Hello

I'm Jody Manning founder of Geekyhiker.

I live in Abertillery - a small former mining village in the South of Wales.

GeekyHiker chestpacks are made in Wales.

    My Story

I took up running back in 2014 at 45yrs old.

I've completed a few challenging marathons such as:- Midnight mountain marathon/ Steyning stinger/ Three forts & many more. Then decided I'd like to try Ultra's,  I'm not the quickest but I like to challenge myself & enter events that I wouldn't be able to finish unless I train for them. I've learnt so much from events and one of the outcomes from that is this Chestpack that I have designed.

Here is a screenshot of most of the Ultratrail events I've completed taken from the DUV Ultra stats site.

The 'Geek' and I during the 268mile Winter Montane spine Race Jan 2024. Finished in 6days 15:45:11

Absolutely loved this photo taken during the Winter Montane Spine Race 2024. It was taken 4 days into the race & for me it shows everything from the weather/ my tired body/ my deep in thought/ my focus & just the sheer brutality of how the race is all in that one shot! The fact that I had My GeekyHiker chestpack this year was the icing on the cake & it was totally invaluable on an event like this!

One of my dreams on The Montane Spine race was making it as far as Greg's Hut which is about 173miles into the race.  Greg's Hut is usually manned by John Bamber & his wonderful team. He offer's his speciality 'Chilliwhack' noodles which are infamous in this race!  They are said to warm you up in no time! However once there I was actually too scared to try them & settled for 'normal' noodles instead. Seeing this photo absolutely made my day for the memory bank & of course it shows you why I like the bright colours for the chestpacks.

FYI - For the Spine race January 2024 I wore the GeekHiker chestpack attached to a Silva 23+3 backpack using the D-rings & seperate straps.
